Internationally renowned pianist Dr. Tony Karam returns to Peoria Riverfront Museum for Steinway Sessions debut Dec. 8

 
Peoria, Ill. — The Peoria Riverfront Museum welcomes back world-renowned pianist Dr. Tony Karam to perform for the museum’s first-ever Steinway Sessions series concert, “Steinway Sessions: Tony Karam,” set amidst the artwork of the museum’s new “FRESH: New Directions in Contemporary Art” exhibition, Dec. 8, 7 p.m.

An internationally renowned pianist since childhood, Beirut native Dr. Karam is a distinguished OB-GYN who practiced in the U.S. after receiving his medical degree from The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. He currently practices in Lebanon.

Dr. Karam performed at the Peoria Riverfront Museum during the museum’s “Da Vinci: The Genius” exhibition in 2019. He returned for a performance at the Scottish Rite Theatre in support of the museum’s “From Peoria to Lebanon” benefit for the Lebanese American University’s medical center in 2021.

“We are thrilled to welcome back Dr. Tony Karam to debut the museum’s new and exciting Steinway Sessions performance art initiative,” said museum CEO John Morris. “Steinway Sessions is the only live performance series of its kind that spotlights international concert-level musicians, set amidst the art and beauty of the Peoria Riverfront Museum’s galleries.”

“Steinway Sessions: Tony Karam” takes place in the museum’s “FRESH: New Directions in Contemporary Art” exhibition on Dec. 8, 7 p.m., with doors open at 6 p.m. Tickets include hors d'oeuvres and dessert with a cash bar available. Individual tickets cost $60 for members and $75 for the general public. Tickets can be purchased at peoriariverfrontmuseum.org.

The event is sponsored by Dr. Joe and Mrs. Linda Couri, Itoo Society, Visionary Society, and Friends of Performance. The Steinway piano is on loan from Greg Birkland.

About Tony Karam, M.D.
An internationally renowned pianist since childhood, Beirut native Antione “Tony” Karam, M.D. is a distinguished OB-GYN who practiced in the U.S. and currently practices in Lebanon. Dr. Karam received double Master of Science degrees in Microbiology and Immunology, with High Honors, and his medical degree from The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences.
